A lake , a pool , 25 Akko and stack of wildlife . It sounds like an idyllic picture you ’d encounter in a painting , but it ’s really where Alaska Perfect Peony is located . Owner Rita Jo Shoultz tells us : " We have a company in this somewhat remote area with mass of young families . We hire neighborhood kids as shortly as they fine-tune from eighth class . We ordinarily have kid from 14 to 17 years old biking several miles to work every day . Some of these tike detain with us through high school and college and one still process after 11 years , on her days off from her permanent twelvemonth round line . "
Often this is the first job for these Kid . " It can be interesting but completely rewarding " , Rita Jo say . " We have several tyke and adult with challenges join us and totally love seeing them get on / blossom work outdoors with our beautiful flower . We are popular with the parents . "
Peonies in the ice chest , waitress for pitch

heyday for frontline workersHaving shipped out the last boxes of Alaska peonies to Mellano , Rita Jo says they ’ve had their best season ever both for growing and selling . However , there are always flowers that are not quite pure enough to ship . fortuitously , those efflorescence did n’t go to waste matter .
" Four of the kids this yr made 150 corsage with 15 peony in each one . They put a Floralife food packet with each bouquet and stuffed ( literally ) them in our beautiful demonstrate American Grown sleeve " , Rita Jo say us . " The result was very impressive . I pass three days driving them around in our farm fomite as they handed out bouquets to front line prole . From the infirmary to foresightful term care facilities to the railroad car portion workers . you may conceive of the encroachment on a small town . "

All masked up but still recognizableRita Jo and the kids had a routine . " Of of course they wore masquerade , but before they develop back in the gondola one person opened a windowpane and feed them a squirt of helping hand sanitizer . We practise how they would come near and what they would say . It turns out their high schooltime demand community of interests armed service before they can calibrate , so that ’s one more benefit . The local newspaper was one of our stops . Everyone was really excited when the weekly newspaper come out with their pictures . All masked up but still recognizable . "
