Healing through gardening
Today we ’re visiting with Valerie Miller .
I am an creative person and newish gardener . Three years ago I was a work - from - home artist and homeschool mom with three little boys ( one , four , and seven years quondam ) who spent more time crying than probably anything else . I felt trap and guilty because I had beautiful tidy children I love more than anything but who I felt were suffocating me . ( I no longer palpate this way , but I did at the time ! )
So in the outpouring of 2020 I start growing blossom with my kiddos and became obsessed with spring up things . tardily theflowersandsoilhave healed me and my upshot , and I am happy , free , elated , and a good mom .

And when three hard affair come along — COVID shutdowns and then two big fire in less than a year at my business concern , graphics studio , and historic family construction ( we be on the third story for years until the third boy came along and we needed alfresco space)—I was already on my way to being able-bodied to cover strain with a clearer headland . Gardening and the flowers had brought me back to myself . So while my husband dealt with fire cleanup for many , many months ( twice ) , I ran to the flowers with the kids in tow .
After what I ’ve just run low through , I ’m turn my centering to disseminate as much joy as I can through blossom , gardening , and efflorescence art — and let others know that beauty and brisk air travel and prime and digging in the dirt can help us tackle all sorts of hard things ( even if we do n’t need to tackle them ) .
Valerie with a stunning mass of efflorescence from the garden

This estate car load of flowers from the farm includes two pail full of sunflowers ( Helianthusannuus , annual ) and one full ofzinnias(Zinniaelegans , annual ) .
Another wagon full of blooms , along with a four - legged helper
It ’s hard to beatdahlias(Dahlia×variabilis , Zones 8–10 or as a pinnace medulla oblongata ) . I love the warm peach color of this one .

Life as a mother of three running a flower farm — it looks like there is always a lot go on !
