Tree-Down!
This labor started when a late winter violent storm snapped off the last big branch of our ancient puss willow ( Salix discolor ) tree diagram . This tree diagram provides food and shelter for so much wildlife — so it ’s sad to see it gradually moulder off — although that ’s part of the cognitive operation .
For us , the tree provide a lovely lifelike screen between our home base and the one next doorway .
With the big branch go , I opt to build a privacy filmdom and let the residual of the Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree dwell out the rest of its days in ataraxis .

Before Building the Screen
I ’ve only got one ( overexposed ) BEFORE photo . I took it when I had a few boards in plaza :
It ’s quite messy looking but you ’ll soon see how the new privacy bulwark transforms it .

Building a Privacy Screen

To keep the new structure from looking too much like a box , I offset the boards on each panel . If you take care at the next photo , you may see that the plane section close to the sign ( the panel on the right side ) is set in front of the second panel ( on the unexpended side ) .
To do this , I simply screw the display panel for section 1 on the front of the support mail service , and the board for section 2 are impound to the rear of the in-between reinforcement post . Wood Used

Gabion Footings
I name “ gabion ” footings in the first place . I amount up with this idea when I builtthe privacy wall on the other side of the thou .

To build the bug hotels , I build up big public square with 2x4s and lined them with 1×6 fence boards . I want this deepness to oblige a deeper presentation .

This is the fun(est ) part . These wood logs were from the fallen pussy willow tree diagram branches . The Value of Rotting Trees
Years ago , I was at a lecturing on sustainable living and the speaker system said , nature gives as much in life history as it does in death .
And it ’s true . Just think of trees and how much they support life on earth while they are exist . Yet , they are just as valuable as they die and decay , allow maintenance and home ground for so many living thing .
From that instant on , I started save old twigs , branches , leaf , and what - not , to let everything molder in my yard .
I used wood logs , twigs , bamboo , wood shavings , bark , teetotal plant halt , old perennial clippings , and straw . An previous kettle fills the top one-armed bandit until I have more materials usable .
The undertaking is not done but started . I have plans to build a few more things on the side , there ’s more decorating to do , and vines to be added .
I ’m really felicitous with it so far . The privacy is first-class , the birds approve ( they all seat up top and watch the humankind go by ) , and it provides lots of next creative and botanical opportunities .
