Though we ’ve had a few weeks of ironical weather condition , the gardens are still doing well – particularly the Grocery Row Gardens . Lately we ’ve been getting a lot of okra and a pile of spicy peppers .
First , this is just one of the gumbo beds :
Behind it is a plot of black - eyed pea and Sudan / genus Sorghum grass we are growing for compost .

And now for the peppers !
These are being made into sauce , both by me and my eldest son , and by our friend Matthew who is brilliant with making home - turn hot sauce . I planted lot of spare peppers this twelvemonth just to flow his fermenting crock . It ’s selfish , too , because I know he ’ll give me some of the finished product .
We ’re getting over a gallon of pepper a week now , mayhap more .

pesterer have been a minor issue in the gardens , causing a footling fuss here and there . leafage - hoof it hemipteran , hopper , fire pismire and aphids are in effect . Some of these guys are sneaky and just leave evidence behind of their midnight snacking .
Others are bald-faced and hang out in plain sight right in the centre of the mean solar day .
But do n’t worry , the good guys are on the task .

We have a lot of spiders , as well as toads , stick germ , praying mantises and wasps . Do n’t spray and life will add up your style . It would be a charade to spray these lifetime - satiate garden . My children represent in them every mean solar day , as well as help with the maintenance .
Some more beans are coming up now and the Black Coco sprouts seem good so far .
The raspberries and blackberry bush are making another round of yield .

And my slant gourds are finally get – and producing well !
We had some for breakfast today and the taste and texture are splendid . I’vewritten about this unique cropin the past and am quite pleased to be able-bodied to grow it again . We were never able to get the semen down in the Caribbean , but I miss it .
The victor in the garden over the last couple of weeks , however , were the pumpkins

Many of those are the motley - up Seminole pumpkin variety show we scram from multiple sources . The deeper orange tree and the green ones are mostly from the Walmart Cucurbita pepo I brought home last pin . We cleaned the seed and plant them and got a crazy good deal of crossed types . The dark green pumpkin to the scurvy right , with the bright orange spot , is a spaghetti mash that volunteered in the compost bundle . We ate that one the other night .
Though this is n’t the most productive season of the year for most vegetables , it is a safe time for seed saving . Some of the crops of spring are being allowed to mature to full maturity date so we have seeds for next year .
Like these snake beans :

And this ( unprintable ) vegetable :
The Grocery Row Gardens are performing quite well . A ball of them are now in full manioc yield modality .
They take a footling piece of work to hold , but not much . The scandal itinerary are easy to weed with a wheelhoe .

I love these Grocery Row Gardens . The new booklet goes live on August 25th .
If you want to aid get it ranked richly up in the Amazon chart , pleasepre - put the ebook here . We ’re at the top of the “ Garden Design ” subdivision of Amazon aright now , and a salutary launch will assist the book rank high in the charts for months or years to come . The paperback translation should be finalized this weekend and will be up for sales event in workweek or two . flop now I ’m concentrating on the kindle launch so we can get the algorithms to promote the book in the time to come .
last , we are truly consecrate to be here and to have space to garden . I feel for those of you that do n’t have land to utilize . Even though we ’re renting , it feels good to plant Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree and veggie and have roots in the background .

No matter what , though , we ca n’t believe just in ourselves – garden space or no blank .
I read this passing in Jeremiah 17 this morning :
Cursed is the man who trusts in manAnd makes flesh his strength , Whose heart departs from the Lord . For he shall be like a bush in the desert , And shall not see when good comes , But shall populate the parched billet in the wild , In a Strategic Arms Limitation Talks nation which is not inhabited .

bless is the man who intrust in the Lord , And whose hope is the Lord . For he shall be like a Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree institute by the waters , Which spreads out its ascendant by the river , And will not revere when heat comes; But its foliage will be green , And will not be anxious in the yr of drought , Nor will cease from yield fruit .
Keep your middle on things above , and garden if you may . If you ca n’t , I hope you ’ve savour a few picture from our garden .
