I have always had a love hatred relationship with cornbread . When I was a untried tyke , I had campfire cornbread that was so dry and unflavorful that I avoided it for years .

tight forward to college . I went home with a friend for the weekend and had the most delicious cornbread that I could have ever imagined .

It was sweet , moist and the bread hold together perfectly and did n’t decay apart at all . It was the perfect full complement to the chili that we ate that solar day .

I have tried many other cornbread recipes over the days and have never find oneself one that I loved as much .

So so as to duplicate that exact flavor , I blend at once to the generator . My college friend ’s female parent !

My friend and I had reconnected on societal medium and we began to reminisce about the playfulness times that we had ‘ back in the mean solar day ’ . SWEET CORNBREAD RECIPE

1 cup all - purpose flour

1 cup yellow Indian meal

1/2 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon salt

3 1/2 teaspoon baking pulverization

1 egg

1 cupful milk

1/3 loving cup unsweetened applesauce ( or veggie oil )

Preheat oven to 400 ° F

1 . Spray or lightly grease a 9 inch round cake cooking pan or season a cast iron frying pan . If using a cast smoothing iron skillet , lieu in oven while it is preheating .

2 . In a large bowl , conflate flour , cornmeal , boodle , salt and baking gunpowder .

3 . agitate in egg , Milk River and applesauce ( or vegetable oil ) until well conflate .

4 . pullulate batter into prepared pan .

5 . Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes , or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf of bread comes out neat .
