In a Vase on Monday. 11th Anniversary.

Cathy , the fagot of the vas has enquire her blogging friend to connect her in lionise 11 years of host this popular meme . Every Monday , year in , year out , Cathy has produced a vase of bloom for us to enjoy . She is the captain of invention with her clever and often witty enjoyment of props to complement her lovely vas . I have get together in now and again over the old age but not for a while . But over the class of blogging Cathy has become a friend and so I could n’t miss her special occasion . She wants our vases to have the number 11 as a root which is quite a poser . All I could guess of was ’ 11 pipers piping ’ from the Christmas song ‘ On the First Day of Christmas ’ but we are still only November so it ’s a bit early . Besides I do n’t have any pipers . I bet Cathy would n’t let that stop her . She probably has shipment of bagpiper in her charming prop drawer and if she did n’t have any pipers she could make them . But I do n’t have Cathy ’s creative imagery so all I could come up with is 11 different plants ; mostly flowers but some foliage . We are going to have frosts this week so it is in force to bring in these flowers inside to enjoy when the rest if the garden sprain to soggy , frozen pulp .

The main feature of my vase is my lovely chrysanthemums . I used just the pinkish single . ,Chrysanthemum‘Mavis Smith ’ , ‘ Jolie Rose ’ and ‘ Suffolk Pink ’ . My two clumps ofNerine undulata‘Seaton ’ are still conk out warm after week of lightening up the garden . So I had to let in some of them . Two different hydrangea came in at number three , one of them , Hydrangea macrophylla‘Ayesha ’ has clump of little cupful - shaped flowers and is a great favourite of mine . The other is a lacecap which came from a cutting I adopt some time ago ; begged , borrowed or stolen , I ca n’t remember which . For number four , I break up dahlia off my hybrid Frankenstein ’s monster tree dahlia . It is still blooming freely . Then for number five , we have sage . I usedSalvia‘Amistad ’ andSalvia ‘ Wild Water Melon ’ . Then I blame some nebulizer of the fuchsia I boast in my up-to-the-minute Six on Saturday . I am still not trusted which it is , but it gives a bit of dangle to the arrangement . I brought a cut ofPersicaria amplexicauliswith me when I move , I ’m not indisputable which one it is , possibly ‘ Blackfield ’ . It seems this has now come back to its original name of ‘ Bistorta”I do n’t know how we are expected to keep up . Anyway , whatever its name , it provides a flake of spikiness . The little thistle - like flowers ofSerratula tinctoriavar.seoaniiare still blend strong and so we have some of this too . One magenta flower ofGeranium psilostemonbrought us up to telephone number nine and for ten and eleven we have the foliage ofPittospermum tenufolium‘Victoria ’ which is always utile for winter arrangements and some of the genus Acer I pruned the other daytime .

To celebrate Cathy ’s 11th anniversary I have made a collage of eleven vases I have lead over the years .

Thirst , hungriness and darkness .. my husband would agree with you on that , he often has to bring me in ! What a brilliant vase .

Yes , I understand what you say about “ distraction ” for certain . Your vase is endearing , as are the others you share . The flowers , foliage , and your arrangement are beautiful , along with the actual vessel , itself . 🙂
