In a Vase on Monday. Daffies
It ’s that time of year again at last . Cheery daffodil mean spring , although most of us are n’t feeling the usual seasonal euphory and perhaps Hector ’s expression sums up the 2020 , fountain vibration . But still , do n’t you feel sorry for non - nurseryman at the moment ? We are the lucky one with our own personal paradise and sanctuary where we do n’t have to jump out of our skin if anyone cough . Here in my garden there is just bird song ; the sparrows are confabulate away in the hedge , the Great Tits have started their rather monotonic call and the robin seems to be blab out just for me as I dig . And I have daffodils .
These are the assorted ones which somebody else implant year ago in the plantation and although I have redesign much of the orchard I still have raft of daffodils forget at the bottom of the garden . They are all different , if I had set them I would have put drifts of one colour , but still they are lovely . It is funny that the reduplicate , primped bad-tempered daffodils that we sneer at and would never daydream of planting flavour rather pretty in a vase . I peculiarly like the ones with frilly coronas ; oh no , I just realize I used the ‘ coulomb ’ word so let ’s forget the right word for now and call it the trump .
Elsewhere I planted great deal of snowy ones calledNarcissus‘Mount Hood ’ . White is perhaps not so spring - like but I do love them . They also have frilly er- trumpets .

My dearie are the kickshaw miniatures . In this vase I have a selection of them in heyday now and there are plenty more are still to come . I love them all but my favourite is the creamy white Narcissus ‘ Elka ’ on the rightfield . The one with the orange trumpet is ‘ Jetfire ’ and the goody one with reflexed flower petal isNarcissus cyclamineus .

I have enjoyed your vases full of daffodils Chloris whilst supping my morning chocolate . A sunny and pollyannaish mental image . Yes we are rosy to have gardens and to be content pottering about outside . I finger desperately sorry for people who hold out in adjustment without any memory access to outside space especially if they are confine to home base 😔
