In a Vase on Monday. First Pickings.
These are the very first flowers I have pick for the house since we act in 6 month ago , so it is quite historic for me . At first there were no flowers to nibble and then when I finally had flowers to pick I could n’t bear to cull them . I still ca n’t really ; I set about off with some Petroselinum crispum which has drop dead to ejaculate , some fat , puffy campion seedheads and just two cosmos . Obviously , it was underwhelming , so I added a rose which is growing up the wall by the front doorway , I do n’t acknowledge which one it is but I am not keen on it , it does keep on florescence though . Then I add one bloom of endearing pale pinkRosa‘James Galway ’ which I grow from a cut , a duo more universe and some old maid flower ..
I know that the more you pick cosmos , the more they come but I did n’t want to sacrifice any buds . The ones I have acquire this twelvemonth are ‘ Double Click Rose Bonbon ’ and ‘ cupcake Blush ’ which is my current favorite . Cosmos are the easy annuals to acquire from seed ; they never fail to germinate and they grow like weeds . They do n’t even seem to mind too much if you do n’t pick them out at the veracious time .
The dark violet heyday stem is the tall growingSalvia‘Amisted ’ , at least I recall it is , I bribe it asSalvia‘Black and Bloom ’ but I recollect that is more blue . I put a black petunia to go with it but I imagine I will take it out , it sticks out like a sore thumb .

The zinnia are a turn of a disappointment , they do n’t see anything like I anticipate and they do n’t grow very tall . I wish well I had put them in a pot now , instead of giving them valuable blank in the perimeter . They are supposed to beZinnia elegans‘Queen Red Lime ’ , but they do n’t look like any painting I ’ve seen of them .
The tips of the zinnia flowers are slightly green and the backs of the flowers are greenish too . Still , I do n’t care them very much .
I pick one minuscule marigold , Calendula‘Art Shades ’ and one nebuliser of the recurrent antirrhinum which was a seedling fromAntirrhinum‘Pretty in Pink ’ which turned out livid .

I also add a hosta flower and that was it . I have many more beautiful and interesting prime in the garden but nothing I can bring myself to foot . I have n’t even unpacked all my vas yet , they are still sit in boxes in the shed and I am not too keen on unpacking them at the moment as they are carefully hold by this beautiful wasp ’s nest which looks just like a paper lamp shade . At one fourth dimension I would have got rid of it but now I take over a more unrecorded and countenance live attitude to the puppet in my garden . Unless we ’re talking about vine weevils , lily beetles , slugs or snail , and then I ’m a ruthless slayer .
Anyway , today is a grim solar day and it seemed the right time to add just a petty bit of the garden indoors .
give thanks you to Cathy atRambling in the Gardenfor hosting this popular meme . It is a pleasure to join in again , even though I have only grudgingly plonked a few flower in a vase ; it is a start , and peradventure next time I will spare a few treasures .

That wasp nest is a small-arm of artwork but , having discovered the hard way how mean wasps are , I ’m not trusted I could live with it – I hope all the wasps leave the premise peacefully . As to your flowered arranging , I think your first creation is beautiful . While I doubt the zinnia is ‘ Queen Lime Green ’ , it ’s very pretty and adds a fleck of panache to the endearing but dim rose .
Oh yes , saucy to be careful around that wasp ’s nest . Your arrangement is affectionate and elegant . Great compounding of elements in the arrangement !
It must have given you a thrill non the less to pick those blooms , just see it as early dead heading to encourage more blooms , and that may make you feel better . I in reality wish the zinnia , with the gradation in colour .. well it takes all variety !
