Touring some beautiful garden spaces

Today ’s picture come from Criss in northeasterly Ohio , whose garden we have take in before ( Criss ’s Ohio Garden ) .

This and the next two pic are in the west yard . I have two separate yards to garden in ; the west curtilage is a deep and wide space , whereas the Orient is long and narrow . This moving picture is behind the theater , and the fenced - in region here has a pond in the middle of it . I have ‘ Endless Summer’hydrangeas(Hydrangea macrophylla‘Endless Summer ’ , Zones 5–9 ) andhostas(Hostahybrids , Zones 3–8 ) andconeflowers(Echinacea purpurea , Zones 4–9 ) , and the grandiloquent yellow flower arecup plants(Silphium perfoliatum , Zones 4–8 ) . If you look toward the back you could see the sure-enough outhouse that is original to the property . There are woods behind all the gardens in this west yard .

The log cabin is from the 1830s and is seize to the theatre . We acquired it in northerly North Carolina in 1995 . There are flock of ‘ Endless Summer ’ hydrangeas and some daylilies(Hemerocallishybrids , Zones 4–9 ) behind it .

This seam in the west yard is one of the tenacious beds I have , but it ’s hidden , so it ca n’t be seen until you come the right way up upon it . A secret fiddling bay with an honest-to-god stone trough with a spirea(Spirea japonica , Zones 4–8 ) give ear over it . The Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree above is a tricolored beech(Fagussylvatica‘Tricolor ’ , Zones 4–7 ) . In front are some roses(Rosahybrid ) and lambs ’ ears(Stachysbyzantina , Zones 4–8 ) . If you look to the far rightfield you will see the red-faced flowers of a Carolina allspice tree bush(Calycanthusfloridus , Zones 4–9 ) .

This is what you first see as you walk into the eastward pace under an arbor . There is a workbench with a walk going to it . The bushes above the bench are winterberries(Ilexverticillata , Zones 3–9 ) , so they give the illusion of an mandril , and there is a very tallsmoke tree(Cotinus coggygria , Zones 4–8 ) to the right . The walkway is a stone circle with several grinding Harlan Fiske Stone placed here and there .

This is an area I ’ve been retread . It is part of the glasshouse layer . I put in the stone set and made the fence gate , and this class I added the fence on the side of it . There are a mesa and professorship under the arbor .

This gate opens to the back of the service department , which is an old farm edifice . This sphere is novel . This has been an be garden seam that winds all the way of life around the greenhouse in the front and down around the old corn cot . I wanted to exchange it up , so I add some Harlan Stone and put in two received dapple willows(Salixintegra‘Hakuro - nishiki ’ , Zones 5–7 ) , chartreuseAralia‘Sun King’(Zones 3–9)chartreusebushes , and some hydrangeas .

This is in the big garden by the nursery . It is a bishop ’s hat finial that stood atop an old railroad crossing military post . My brother gave this to me , and I had two stone pillars give to me , so I put this finial on one of them . It makes a really nice characteristic in the garden .

Here is part of thevegetable gardenshowing two 8 - foot raise bed on each side of the bower , which is made with locust tree tree offshoot . There is wattle fencing around the four outer gardens , which I put away every fall .

I put in this triangle star designing and added a topiary garden last year . I had the weeping spruce(Piceaabies‘Pendula ’ , Zones 3–7 ) already , so I worked around it . I will keep the young shrubs trim astopiaries .

This is the center of my Occident yard , a garden domain I instal in 2006 . The round sett circle leads to a fenced orbit . Outside the fencing are Nipponese maples(Acerpalmatum , Zones 5–9 ) , and there is a long winding garden to the left field of the fence . I bring the two mess of rosemary on each side of the gate in the family every winter . Inside the fencing is a lowly pond and gobs of herbs .
