clock time to start some of my seeds! So here is how I do it :

Yesterday I father out the wanton mending I made last year and brought it in the house . This yr I ’m kick the bucket to test some natural visible light bulb ( rather of the flourescents I had last yr ) . I also wash all the pots and containers in a 10 % bleach answer to disinfect them in typeface there was anything to dissuade the child seedling growth . Then I amount the pot with some screening tape and waterproof marker so that they correlate with my germ tilt of flora I want to grow ( so I be intimate what I planted in each pot ) . I put tape on the pots with the number rather of stakes with the name   in the pots as sometimes the stake fall out . Nothing like a mystery plant life where the tag accrue off !

Today I got the soil in the lot , watered the territory and then planted some of my seed to their proper depth and put a little sand over them ( the grit seems to stay moister and the seedlings can push through it easier ) . Then I mist the sand . That way the seeds do n’t get disturbed or washed away . Afterwards they go on a plant heat mat to keep warm till they bourgeon . I will put the lights on a timekeeper after they spud . Some plant need light to sprout and some do n’t . I ’m still memorise about this . I believe I read somewhere that tomatoes do n’t take light to initally germinate but do mightily afterwards and of line thereafter .

I planted some tomato seeds , some pepper seeds and some mad apple . All these works seem to take the longest to get raise to decent size before transplant , so I care to begin them early on . I still have more love apple seeds to start but are waitress for the cum to arrive in .

Last twelvemonth I used Jiffy Soil appetiser   and was n’t happy when I first watered the source as the water rolled off the soil - so this year I fix this new soil ( Sun Gro Metro Mix 300 ) and the H2O immediately hock in - much courteous ! I am also going to put some insulation around the lightsome reparation to keep the flora warm at night as my tomato struggled last year when the family was cool at Nox . I go for this will avail . Tomatoes and peppers detest to be cold as I learned last year .

Also last yr I was able to “ sneak ” my tomato , peppers , and eggplants in early- April 23 ( our last halt particular date is May 15th ) in wall of waters and they did really well ( look at my slide show to see them ) so that is another understanding I start them this early but we will see what this year brings . We ’ve had a very cold and sloshed winter so far ( it was play false again today) .. sigh . But it was nice to be in and doing something gardening wise !
