Flowers upstaged by a lush green moss carpet
My name is Stephanie Weisser . I live in Buckingham , Pennsylvania , Zone 6b . My married man , Michael , and I have been gardening for almost 40 year . The plant are my purview , and Michael ramp up thestone pathsandwallsand creates the layout .
I recently retired and have more time to focus on my garden , which brings me smashing pleasure and casual thwarting .
Michael shot these lovely photos , show early outflow in our garden .

We put in adeer fencea year or so ago , and it was worth every cent . I would have very small garden without it .
We ’ve been put to work on various parts of the landscape , but it ’s ourmossgarden that get the oohs and ahs . It ’s about 30 foot by 90 foot and has a rootery and rock garden , plus little runoff areas etch into the moss .

Lysimachia(Lysimachia nummularia‘Aurea ’ , Zones 3–9 ) , lamb ’s ear(Stachysbyzantina , zone 4–10 ) , andAucubajaponicain the back . Behind the bed is our moss garden .

There ’s an assortment of shadiness perennial , including Solomon ’s seal(Polygonatumodoratum‘Variegatum ’ , Zones 3–8 ) , shed blood heart(Dicentraspectabilis , Zones 3–9 ) , and the hostas andJapanese paint fern(Athyrium japonicumvar.pictum , Zones 3–8 ) that are just starting to emerge . The office of bolshie is a species tulip .
More moss and a toad lily(Tricyrtis),with babybleeding heartpopping up in the moss .

A newly developingbog garden . Chinese astilbe ‘ Milk River and Honey’(Astilbechinensis‘Milk and Honey ’ , Zones 4–9),Heuchera‘Forever Purple ’ ( Zones 4–9 ) , and ‘ Crested Surf ’ painted fern . All were nipped by the late spring frost . Behind the trunks of theviburnumare unwarranted purple iris .
A hemipteron hotel and a stone path both make by my husband . Shade plantsall around are just beginning to emerge .
Columbine(Aquilegiahybrid , Zones 3–9 ) , sweet woodruff(Galium odoratum , Zones 4–8 ) , a frost - tweet astilbe , lily of the valley(Convallaria majalis , Zones 3–8 ) , and a nativeground coverwith little yellow flowers , possiblyChrysogonumvirginianum .

Analliumin front ofPhloxsubulata(Zones 3–9 ) and a lovely mounded Mary Jane , the name of which we no longer know .
This bed is next to the route , and it ’s always surprising that anything survives . It ’s spring , so everything looks dandy . There are Bagatelle barberry shrubs(Berberisthunbergii‘Bagatelle ’ , Zones 4–8 ) , Japanese holly(Ilexcrenata , Zones 5–8),Penstemon ‘ Husker ‘ Red(Penstemon digitalis‘Husker Red ’ , Zones 3–8),Liatrisspicata(Zones 3–9 ) , andJapanese anemones(Anemone × hybrida , Zones 4–8 ) . I thin the anemones out all summer or they take over . In the center is another wall with stones from the creek bed behind our star sign .
