Today ’s photo is another winner from last yr ’s wintertime garden picture taking contest , and it ’s from Dennis Kruse in Virginia . He said , “ horticulture is my married woman ’s passionateness , but I have become hitch up in her enthusiasm . I enjoy shoot the flowers that she tends . While visiting France in 2008 , we toured gardens in Loire and Provence . We fell in love with the garden pergolas we come across at various hotel and gardens . We wanted to capture the calmness and serenity we bump in the French garden and recreate those feelings in our own garden . The pergola is tucked into a shady area of oak and maple tree . It is wall by azaleas , rhododendron , genus Mahonia , California fern and native wildflowers . When model under the pergola , one looks out on the sunny garden fill up with native plant and bushes that attract hummingbird and butterfly stroke . We have been working on our garden since we move to Virginia five days ago . It has finally strain the period where we can actually sit down and enjoy it once in awhile rather than always be working in it ! ”
