Yesterday I follow home from church to find a musical note on my door . It had a man ’s name and number on it with the cryptic message “ Need to lecture about chickens . ”
At first I marvel if perhaps a neighbour was tired of the roosters bragging , or that maybe some hens had get out . But that did n’t make sense . Our neighbors were widely spaced , and some of them have wandering dogs , sheep and chickens of their own .
So I called him , and he said he wanted to switch me some debris – “ but I have good detritus ! ” – for a few hens , if potential . “ I have some old tongue and thing , ” he said .

So I told him to come on over and I ’d be happy to see if we could trade .
He did , and we got speak about volaille and garden tool and such . He went back to his place around the turning point to get a few things and I fascinate a few hens and we made a craft .
One of the items he had for trade was a fighting pecker biz hen , along with two mixed Rhode Island Reds . I was interested , because I ’ve been work onbreeding a better chicken thanks to my new acquaintance Florida Bullfrog .

This is the plot hen my neighbor brought over ( on the rightfulness ):
After trading , I emailed Florida Bullfrog some pictures and allege :
Old guy just trade me this biddy . She is less than a twelvemonth old , very hopeful - eyed . He said she is full game , “ cause she has them green legs , and that them guys raisin ’ game birds do n’t wish to let their hens go for nuthin , but he got to merchandise fer one . ” you may see her in with a couple of normal domesticated hen . He said “ it ’s the darndest matter – she piddle this weird piddling audio when a bird fly over , and monish all the other hen . And she ’ll fly like an eagle , way up into the trees ! ”

I also post a picture on YouTube , and Bonnie comment :
“ Mix Game chicken into any breed for improvement . As for predators , they do n’t stand a chance ! Husband tell of a Game Hen his mother had … who would aviate to the ridge rowing of their b when a hawk flew over … and she ’d attempt to flee high enough to lock . One day a hawk obligate her by flying grim . Husband says once the feathers cleared that hawk could n’t move tight enough to get go ! ”
We introduced her to the pile last night after dark – hopefully she integrates without emergence .

In all , I trade nine of my hens for a Case knife , a plant food spreader , an quondam wheel hoe with a nice potato plough attachment , two Rhode Island Reds that did n’t look staring , that game hen , an antique skinning tongue , and a minuscule bitty pocketknife regulate like a goober .
I ’ll send pic of the wheel hoe soon – it ’s a rattling coolheaded old composition . I am unrestrained about it as well as this biddy .
We ’ll talk more about that tomorrow . Also , I am back in the office today after spending the end of last week in Blountstown at the Keepers of the Old Ways Survival Expo at the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement . I should have some videos of my talks posted soon . It was a great time .
