Bonus of a mild winter
Joseph here , in northerly Indiana , where normallyDecemberandJanuaryis anindoor - only gardeningseason , with Lot of nose candy , frigid temperatures , and ground frozen solid .
Not thiswinter , though . We ’ve been take in absurdly warm temperatures , and bizarrely when everything would normally be deeply abeyant , I still have things flowering !
Here ’s what is showing off in my garden … do you have anywinter bloomersgoing strong at home ?

Most of what I have flowering are pansies ( Violaxwittrockiana , cool time of year annual ) . Istarted these from seedin the fall , and did n’t really gestate them to survive my winter in mywindow loge . Well … they are surviving for sure !
This is one of the ‘ Cool Wave ’ serial publication , pansies that make long , trailing stems . They face so good spilling out of my windowpane boxes .
I also grew a bunch of the sort ‘ Flirty Skirts ’ which have these wondrous ruffled blossom .

Some are more frilled than others , but they ’re all beautiful .
This brightyellowis a squeamish moment of sunshine in our typically cloudy winter weather .
And this Cool Wave variety has been so nice – spate of flower , with a great pattern .

I also havesnowdropsblooming ! This is the speciesGalanthuselwesii(Zone 4 – 7 ) which I got because it is a little larger than the typicalGalanthusnivalis(Zone 3 – 7 ) . Last year they all blossom in the fountain , but with the warmer weather , I have a fistful blossom now , and some that even commence back inNovember .
I just planted these a dyad year ago . I ca n’t wait for them to manifold into nice clumps .
last , I have primula ( Primulahybrid , Zone 3 – 8) blooming ! These have always started early , but never THIS early . They ’re a long way for full efflorescence , but it is great to see some color this time of year .
